Professional Pics

I went out climbing with my buddy Aaron and a new friend Dave Silver who just happens to be a professional photographer. We only had a couple hours but he took some amazing pictures. Check them out at his website @ www.DaveSilverPhoto.com. A new post coming up soon.

Modems make the World a Smaller Place...

I remember around 11 or 12 when my dad first hooked us up to the internet. 14.4k modem speed baby. Now you can go pretty much anywhere in a city and hook up to streaming video. Our access to information has never been better. It doesn't matter if you have a PHD or are a grade 7 student, we can all get our hands on the same information. They say now it's not what you know, but what you know how to find. Thomas Friedman mentions this in his book "The World is Flat" and points out one of the dangers of it. He says yes we all have access to information, the playing field has been leveled, but it's how we process it that is of most importance.

"[This] generation is in danger of growing up with 170 terabytes of knowledge and information, but not more than a few bits of wisdom. The challenge for the next generation of parents, educationists, and thinkers will, therefore, not be the dissemination of information, but to change the way people differentiate between information and wisdom"

Just something to add to the piles of information out there. What he suggests will help people to develop wisdom, a curiosity and passion for learning. Those who learn how to learn will develop what is necessary to sift through the sea of information to find the truth within the chatter.

So to leave you, one of the greatest songs (and maybe the only song) ever about modems, which give us access to this information, the 56k rap by Ronald Jenkees.
